Marketing strategy, artist and event management, art and creative direction for this special project at the very end of 2024. When HUF announced its latest collaboration with Kodak, it became the perfect foundation for curating a photography exhibition in Berlin to celebrate the launch of the unique capsule collection. For this project, I brought together photographer Dennis Scholz and Safelight Berlin for creating an unforgettable exhibition night at their magnificently pink-colored store in the Prenzlauer Berg area. Safelight (aka. Berlin's specialists for analog photography) took care of the entire processing, scanning and printing, ensuring the highest standards for fine art prints that very night.
Kicking off the project in July, Dennis came up with the concept of showing doubles that either subtly communicate an ambiguity or contradictory. He worked intensively on the project and managed to get all shots done only in two months, paying his homage to the life in the streets of Berlin with a distinctive fast-moving nature (even though the entire project was shot exclusively on analog Kodak color film). The artist quotes: “It’s a journey through the city’s raw contrasts. Tradition collides with reinvention, creating a vision of fine-grained duality. Explore the beauty in chaos and the harmony in contradiction.” This conclusion led to the final exhibition title: Perfect HELL™.
Alongside the exhibition, I took care about the entire art direction and designed a print zine that turned out to be a 44-page analog photo manifest of the project. It was given away to all attendees during the heavily crowded event, when hundreds of curious people showed up to celebrate analog photography with us.
